
Mara Hvistendahl is a Shanghai-based writer. She has written about environmental issues for the Financial Times magazine, Scientific American, Popular Science, Archaeology, and Seed. Her work has also appeared in Harper's, The New Republic, and the Los Angeles Times.
After receiving a B.A. from Swarthmore College in comparative literature and Chinese, Mara attended Columbia School of Journalism on an international reporting scholarship, graduating in 2003 with an M.S. in magazine writing.
